Here’s the full recipe for Christmas Butter Cookies:

Ingredients

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 egg yolks

2/3 cup powdered sugar (for the dough)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: Food coloring, sprinkles, or sugar decorations

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add the egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

5. Stir in the vanilla extract.

6. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

2. Shape the Cookies

1. Divide the dough into smaller portions if you’d like to add food coloring for festive designs. Mix in the color gently.

2. Roll the dough into small balls or shape them into desired forms (e.g., stars, trees, or wreaths). For extra decoration, press sprinkles or sugar into the tops of the cookies.

3. Place the cookies about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.

3. Bake

1. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Avoid overbaking to keep them soft.

2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

4. Decorate (Optional)

Once the cookies are cool, you can drizzle melted chocolate, royal icing, or add more sprinkles for a festive touch.

5. Serve and Enjoy

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.

These butter cookies are rich, buttery, and perfect for Christmas celebrations!
